The Rosemont School of the Holy Child in Lower Merion Township completed an expansion of the 6.5-acre campus. The phased project included construction of a new 10,800 square foot gym and a 32,000 square foot classroom building. The nursery and elementary school merged three adjoining lots to construct the project. The campus is located in a mixed residential neighborhood; the main school building is a Tudor-style Kerbaugh Mansion and is designated a class II historic structure. The project required zoning variances and land development approvals.
CVDA was retained as part of the design team to provide the landscape architecture, decorative site lighting and hardscape design. CVDA assisted in the preparation of the conditional use plan, preliminary development plan, final development plan and construction documentation of the project. An inventory of the existing plant material was undertaken and plants were protected and retained as appropriate. CVDA also conducted meetings with the neighbors to gather information and to solve buffer issues. The input from both neighbors and the township was incorporated into the final approved design of the property.
