CVDA was retained by EwingCole to assist with the master plan and site planning for the new North American headquarters of Olympus Imaging Corporation. CVDA was involved in the design of the project from the beginning. Based on severe site constraints, we developed a plan that maximized the building’s orientation to focus on the site’s 9-acre lake and woodlands. The plan and garden themes reflected the company’s Japanese origins while expressing a modern technological theme. Three separate entrances were incorporated: the formal entrance with art forms that feature the transformation of glass in technology; the garden entrance to the park and gardens; and the service entrance that buffers the site from the adjacent interstate highway. A playground for the on-site daycare, concrete work-out surfaces and bike lockers were also included. CVDA was retained by Butz Construction Company to develop the site as a design/build project, and to oversee the completion of the project.
