Liberty Park has a marvelous history as a town center space within the borough of Peapack-Gladstone. Developed initially as a memorial for the community’s fallen heroes, the park has been used in the past as a swimming hole, a gathering place for community events, and as a visual and iconic amenity within the village. Our firm was retained to restore the park to honor the history, establish design elements to unify its character and establish a design program to make the park a regional destination.
The master plan incorporates elements that will provide interest year-round, including improvements to existing park features; revitalizing the pond so that it becomes an attractive and sustainable focal point, and evaluating the plant material to provide for seasonal diversity and future sustainability. We reviewed the park uses, such as seating, picnicking, fishing, ice skating, holidays, and other annual events to create usable and attractive spaces. Further, we identified how to improve and expand the playground facilities and increase park safety.
Based upon our master plan with budget options developed after extensive public participation, CVDA has been further retained to develop the construction documents and review the implementation of the park renovations.
