Completion Date:  2004

Carter van Dyke Associates led a team of planners to revitalize seven aging commercial districts throughout Abington Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

These revitalization plans were the result of multidisciplinary community planning efforts to study each of the commercial districts to establish its character, examine land uses, define streetscapes, preserve architectural features and identify economic opportunities.  Public input meetings were held to address key design issues and address public concerns.

A series of traffic calming techniques, landscape features, lights, benches and pedestrian linkages were created to support the economic strategy.  The resulting revitalization plans created implementation strategies, identified preliminary costs and funding sources.  The community of Keswick is featured here showing the street trees, street lights, new sidewalks, traffic calming roundabout, community clock, new retail and restaurants surrounding the revitalized Keswick Theater.
