Hartsville Village

Our client challenged us to preserve the historic Hartsville Inn while creating a professional office village that would address community fears about offices near a residential area. We embraced this challenge by researching the Revolutionary War history of the Village of Hartsville and its architecture. Local history experts were invited to share the values of this community.  In response, we designed buildings to draw on the architectural character of the Village while preserving and featuring the historic Hartsville Inn for use as offices. This professional village of nine office buildings was designed at a residential scale with porches and entrances all facing a tree-lined street and village green.
